I took a walk

I love summer and I had a whole bunch of free time and generally the weather in Sydney has been good (read: HOT) except for that week that was just super rainy. What is up with that... That did not make me feel like I wanted to go anywhere. I had a friend visit Sydney back in January. He's been teaching English in South Korea for the past year and he chose to spend his winter vacation (since it's winter over there) back in Sydney. So he wanted to visit all his workplaces, uni and just generally see Sydney. So below are some photos from one of the days we wandered the city!

Main walkway of UNSW. My first university and how my friend that visited and I met, kinda. We met through a friend of a friend who went to UNSW. That's kinda how I make friends now. Through friends of friends. I don't think I've met a stranger and then we became friends. Well, except at work, I guess?

So UNSW, in the time that I have graduated, has gotten all fancy with all these new shops and restaurants. JELLY.

Get it??? XD

Then we headed down to Central Park near Central Station and opposite the UTS Tower. It's that new residential and shopping complex. It's pretty artsy. It has a lot of creative exhibitions and spaces.

The reflective pose is supposed to be in the vein of Rodin's The Thinker. Can you tell?

I loved this space. It had a piano and seats and anyone can play. It was empty when we were there. I could only bust out a fur bars of Fur Elise. Then my friend and I did the Heart and Soul obligatory duet. Need to learn new songs or bring sheet music next time.

I think this a UTS building getting a facelift?

Sydney summer, when you have a lot of free time, has the best vibe. It gives me the best feeling. Something about it (probably all that sun and sky) just makes me feel really good about the world. All hopeful and positive! So I'm gonna enjoy this last month of summer. I need to get to a beach!

I haven't posted in a while ...

Nothing really happening at the moment. My dad had his operation. It went well and he's recovering fast. Next doctor's appointment is on 17th October.

In the meantime here's a random photo of UNSW's main walkway at night. SO PRETTY. I MISS MY ALMA MATER. I was visiting UNSW for a friend's graduation.

The White House, UNSW

I'm a bad law student. I had all the intention in the world to go to class after 1 drink. But hanging out in The White House made it feel more like Friday than a Monday.

So a friend of a friend of a friend said that there was a new bar type place at UNSW, my alma mater. At the end of a post like this I would usually add an address. But it's not really on a street. You kind of have to get directions from someone who knows vaguely where it is. The White House's website/blog is not very helpful with directions either! Unless I completely don't know how to navigate a website.

Easiest way to find it is not the way we found it. Walking in the opposite direction. The best direction is that it's opposite the Fig Tree theatre. Or, if you're coming up from lower campus go towards the Quad lawn and turn left into where the Goldstein building is. Look for a 2 storey WHITE HOUSE. Get it? XD

On the wall as you enter. Guess that building's been there all along.

Cider - $6.00.
So good it deserves 2 photos. Better than 5 seeds. Doesn't take like alcohol at all.

If you head upstairs there's a cocktail bar and some very interesting looking furniture.

The drinking "glasses" for the punch.

Glass of Golden Ale - $4.60.

I loved drinking here. Loved the design, furniture and atmosphere of the place. I do not remember this building being there when I was at UNSW. I'm sure it was there but probably not all renovated and pretty like this. There are board games that you can play. Cheap and/or old versions of Connect 4, UNO and Guess Who. Upstairs behind the bar are a stack of board games to choose from as well. We had intense games of UNO and Connect 4. CONNECT 4. I lost one and won one. And, my gosh, you really need to pay attention. Everyone has different rules for UNO. I don't think anyone's every read the rules for UNO. We just all get taught right? 4pm - 5pm is Happy Hour with bottled beer (they have Heineken, Hahn Super Dry, Becks from memory) priced at $4.

I'm hoping to go again. Since I've graduated from UNSW I haven't really been back so it was so nostalgic getting on the 891 and having to stand all the way. It's such a nice place to drink and oh, how I miss you UNSW!

Start of April in fake vintage photo style

Trying out a vintage photoshop effect (tutorial here) I found since I think photos sometimes look better when edited. Posting the photos from my flickr account. My birthday is soon as is my promised birthday flickr Pro account. XD

Graduation
Obligatory posing at that place in the middle of the Basser steps overlooking the Quad. Always a line on graduation days. Although you never really go there at any other time of your uni life at UNSW.

선생님
Everyone wants a photo with him. Such a popular teacher. Although, since leaving UNSW, my Korean has drastically deterioated.

After the graduation we had dinner at BBQ City. That post will come tomorrow. Or later because I have an essay to write and I've wasted too much time already! One more for the road!

Complete camera accident by the way. My P&S wouldn't focus or my hand was wobbly and I hate flash and tada!
