Vivitar Ultra Wide & Slim

Oh, it's so so scratched. Must take better care of my things.

I've had this camera for a few years now. It no longer exists in this form, I think. It's now the SuperHeadz Wide and Slim Camera. They come in many bright colours but from my internet googling, serves the same function as its predecessor. I don't remember what made me buy it. I just remember seeing photos taken with it and I wanted it. I went on ebay and bought it for around $10, I think. My memory's a bit hazy. It doesn't need a battery, it doesn't have a flash, it uses 35mm film and works best with lots and lots of light. It doesn't weigh very much and it takes a photo quite quickly. Be sure to keep your hand steady and don't move too quickly after the shot's taken to prevent blur, though I s'pose you can say that about every camera. XD

I have a lot of free time on my hands so I dug up my scanner and scanned some of the photos taken with the Vivitar Ultra Wide & Slim. The scanner made them look darker than they actually are. They look much better in person.

100th post: This time last year

This is my 100th post! I started this post pre-exam period in November 2010. I had been reading some food blogs and blogging seemed like an interesting and seemingly productive way to pass the time. I remember refreshing the page so much to see the counter go up. XD So yay to 100!

Since I've been at home for the past week (which was probably good idea since the weather in Sydney has been horrible) I've decided to do a post about this time last year. Or approximately around that time. Around this time last year I had just arrived in Sydney after a month long holiday in the Philippines. It was the middle of summer and very, very hot and humid. In retrospect, I didn't get to do much. Lots of visits to family and to malls. "Malling" they call it. XD I experienced a typhoon, black outs (they call it "brown outs"), heat, internet deprivation and slight boredom. It's not really easy to get around if you don't speak the language. And I was paranoid that everytime I spoke English I would be ripped off. I don't know how to catch a jeepney on my own. Took a taxi to a lot of places or got driven. I didn't get to do all of the tourist things that tourists do. Like go to beaches or resorts. Or go clubbing. I really wanted to go clubbing. I've seen photos of my cousin clubbing and it looks like fun. XD

What I loved when I was there was the cheapness of things. When you convert from Australian dollar to Philippine pesos it's really quite cheap. I love that they have stores that we don't have like Forever 21, H&M, Jollibee, Penshoppe, Bench, etc. Their malls are amazing and if you go to the city areas the areas are really quite pretty. Next time I go I'd like to go with friends but there's a greater chance of getting to see all the tourist places. XDDD

My dad's going again at the end of the month. I would have gone with him except I start uni at the beginning of August. I told him to go earlier so it would fit with my break but he's going at the same time as his sister (who's in San Francisco) so they'd all be there at the same time. Alas, there's always next year. XD

2011 K-Pop Music Fest is confirmed!

My friends have said that tickets range from $80 - $300. That's not confirmed, just rumours. $300 is for VIP or something. My friends and I have decided to get the best/most expensive ones because who knows when this will happen again?

I still maintain that ANZ Stadium is too large a venue for this. They won't fill up the stands. Probably would have seating on the ground. Perhaps people from interstate and possibly overseas will come to this. I do wonder about numbers though. Because Australian KPop fans on the internet are not indicative of real world numbers - if that makes any sense. XDD

I don't know a lot of their songs. I listen to Arashi most of the time. XDD Oh, Arashi, please come to Australia one day. XDD

I PASSED!

2 credits and a pass. Woot! Having beer tonight with dinner. XDDD

I have got to be a better student. XDDDDDDDDD

A photoless post

The internet is completely boring right now. I feel like I've run out of things to do online. Hence, a random, pointless blog entry.

A lot of my friends are going back to uni tomorrow and most of their online posts have been about that. I don't start uni again until August. Results are released on Wednesday. I'm not the best student so I am quite nervous about the results.

In the past 3 weeks or so I have done nothing of note. With 2 weeks to go I  am definitely going to get my L's. I just have to. I've been putting it off for so long. Largely because I'm scared that I'm going to be a crap driver. But almost everyone learns how to drive. All types and manner of people and if they can do it then so can I, right?

I only have 1 goal for the remainder of this break because when I  have too many I get none of them done. Oh, and  I want read some books before uni starts up and I have no time to read non-law materials. Still have A Game of Thrones to read. I was going to finish it before I finished watching the series.

All those plans I made in my head ... sigh. Well, only 4 months, maybe, 'til the next break! Apparently, I'm going on holiday to the US and Canada in December so there's that to look forward to! My friends are planning to go to Hong Kong in February 2012. I want to go too!

Anyhoo, pointless post for me to pass the time ... Going to watch the Sherlock  Holmes movie to see how it differs from the Steven Moffat mini-series. I think there's quite a difference in tone ... XD

Hotplate Steak House

Long time no blog! I feel like it's been a long time. XD

On Tuesday night my friends and I made our second visit to Hotplate Steakhouse in Chinatown after ice-skating at Canterbury. I was such fail on the ice. Such, such fail. My first visit, which I blogged about, was in February. My friends and I have been calling it the Taiwanese Steakhouse. But I don't think that is its actual name. On this second visit I brought my DSLR and yay for better pictures!

The first time we went there it had just opened so it had a discount on the price of the sets. No such luck this time. The menu for the hotplate feast set was largely the same. The only difference being was that they brought out the sorbet earlier, the salad had a different dressing and they no longer pour the pepper sauce on the steak hotplate. They give you a dish with the sauce and you pour it as you like. I ordered the New York sirloin steak as my main and this time they didn't ask how I'd like it to be cooked. It turned out fine anyway, not well done, not rare.

The set is $19.95 and is pretty good value for money. You leave full. And on this particularly night I was that kind of sick kind of full. We had binged on KFC after ice-skating and were still a little bit full from that. XD
